All Etihad pilots who are currently on flying duty are eligible to apply for TopCover benefits.
There is no upper age limit for applying for TopCover although the available benefits may be decreased for initial applicants who are aged over 50 years.
The maximum age limits for each section of cover are:
Income Protection and Critical Illness: Age 60
Personal Accident: Age 65
The maximum benefit is US$15,000 per month, including any benefits provided by Etihad Airways.
Etihad has a separate TopCover policy providing Income Protection benefits of:
Captains: $5,000 per month
First Officers: $4,000 per month
Second Officers: $2,500 per month
This is a cash lump sum payment in the event of death or a permanent injury. The maximum benefit is US$500,000.
Pilots may also purchase cover for their spouse and dependent children.
This is an immediate cash payment upon diagnosis of any one of the named illnesses. In addition, as a unique benefit for pilots, any medical condition that permanently prevents you from flying may also qualify for a benefit payment.
Cover is available in increments of US$10,000 and the maximum cover available is US$150,000.

It is important to note that a separate TopCover policy is arranged by Etihad to offer basic protection to all pilots. The airline is the policyholder and receives the monthly benefits as a contribution to the cost of keeping you employed when you are long-term sick. The airline is therefore financially encouraged to retain you during the initial 90 / 180 day Waiting Period.
Your individual TopCover benefits are completely separate from the airline’s policy and under your direct control.
